Reductive Photos: Photographs by Erik Rosen

October 31st, 2009

Born and raised in New York City, Erik has made western Pennsylvania his home for over 15 years. He has traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia, and has a deep interest in eastern philosophy.

“Renowned National Geographic nature photographer Frans Lanting once wrote, ‘I was often belly down in the sand, mud, or water, going about my daily work as the animals went about their daily survival.’ Lanting and others like him mine something precious from their surroundings; an awareness of our place in an infinitely complex and interdependent world, and in doing so, extracts what is necessary for their own survival.”

Erik’s photographs have been exhibited in galleries in Pittsburgh and the Poconos, and have been used as part of the cover design for three poetry books and a CD of devotional music. His work also hangs in numerous private collections.
